Let’s get started!

Ready to take the next step? Here are your options

If you think I might be a good fit for what you’re looking for, but you have some questions, book a complimentary consult call. This is a casual 15-minute conversation where we can discuss what therapy looks like and I can answer your questions about if my services are the right fit for your specific needs.

If you like what you’ve read so far and you’re ready to get started, book a 50-minute session. You have two options: virtual for clients located anywhere in Alberta, or in-person if you’re local to Calgary. Check out the FAQ section below for information on what to expect in a first session.

I’m happy to connect over email to answer any questions you might have - fill out the form or email me directly at laurel@yorkpsychology.org

FAQs

  • The 15-minute consult call is an opportunity to connect and determine if we are a good fit to work together. We will discuss what you are hoping to get out of counselling, and I can answer any questions you might have about my training, expertise, or what therapy looks like.

You don’t have to book a consult as a first step. If you are ready to book a full session, I’m ready to support you.

  • Session are 50-minutes long and can be booked in-person at my Midnapore office or virtually on Mondays, Tuesday, and Fridays and occasional Saturdays.

In the first session, we will discuss your reasons for coming to counselling, what you would like to be different, and ways that we can work together to achieve your goals. Building a strong relationship is the keystone to ensuring that therapy has successful outcomes for you. Ensuring that you feel seen, understood, and cared for is the starting point we’ll use to move forward with a therapy treatment plan that fits your exact needs.

  • Therapy is an investment in yourself - you want to know that your time and money are being spent carefully. When deciding if a therapist is a good fit, you might ask, do you feel comfortable and accepted as you are? Does the therapist understand you, and care about the issues you want to talk about? Do they have the right training/licensing/experience to help with the specific issues you want to address? Do they challenge you and support you to work toward your goals for therapy?

These are helpful questions to keep in mind when we meet to help you determine if my services are a good fit for you and the type of support you are looking to receive.

  • Session fees are $200 for a 50-minute counselling or EMDR session. Payment can be made by credit card, e-transfer, or cash.

  • Many providers cover mental health services, however they may require specific practitioner registrations and certifications. It is best to check with your provider regarding the specifics of your coverage prior to booking to ensure your session will be covered. I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist, and sessions are typically covered under most insurance plans.

I am currently unable to offer direct billing. However, receipts will be provided for each session, which can often be submitted to your provider for reimbursement.
